From a simple calculation, Ford director Lee Iacocca deduced that the post-war babyboom
generation would reach driving age in the middle of the 1960s, but would not have
a lot to spend on a car. So he developed a ‘poor man’s Ferrari’ - the Ford Mustang. This
idea saved Ford from ruin. Over 418,000 Mustangs were sold in the first year alone.



New and successful concepts do not arise spontaneously. They are the outcome of thinking differently. The outcome of looking at familiar things in a different way. In the future, this conceptual way of thinking will increase in importance.
